Endings

Your ending is not chosen on a menu. It follows from how far you went and whom you stopped to hear. Nothing you do can lock you out: a new run is the night rung again, and every ending stays open.

Spoilers below. Each one opens only if you ask.
How many endings are there?

Four in all. The first comes after the Last Organ, and three more lie beyond it.

EndingHow to reach it
SilenceBeat the Last Organ, sector 10's Guardian, without having earned the fight beyond it. The night thins, but it holds.
A Quiet DawnBeat the Eclipse Archon with none of the four stories finished.
DawnBeat the Eclipse Archon with some of the four stories finished.
The Silver WakeBeat the Eclipse Archon with all four stories finished.
How do I reach the Eclipse Archon?

Beat every Guardian and every echo. That means all ten Guardians, plus each of the 9 echo lairs where a silenced Guardian returns in the next sector. Echo lairs hide behind false walls, and from sector 5 nothing marks those walls.

What finishes each person's story?
  • Hesk: the talk in sector 10, after the Last Organ falls.
  • Sorrel: the talk after the Iron Pilgrim falls, which needs her earlier talks first, and those need you to find Wren.
  • Ambrel: the talk after you beat the Borrowed Minute.
  • Corwin: the talk after the Pale Interceptor falls, which needs his first talk.

The steps are on the NPCs page.

Each ending plays as a short series of cards the first time you reach it. Settings can show them every time, or never.
