Settings and accessibility
Everything here can be changed at any time from Settings. Only Gentle mode has any effect on your progress, as explained below.
Seeing and comfort
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Text size | Every screen's words |
| High-contrast threats | Enemy bullets stand out more |
| Reduced motion | Calmer menus, banners and map |
| Reduced flashes | Softer flashes and pulses |
| Boss dialogue | What bosses and the dead say: first time, always or never |
| Music | Music loudness |
| Effects | Sound effects loudness |
No critical warning in the game relies on colour, sound, bloom, particle count or tiny text alone.
Difficulty
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gentle mode | Kinder fights, no achievements, from your next run |
| Jump scares | Once a sector a room surprises you |
Gentle runs stay at Vigil 0 and do not count for the Weekly Vigil, and they earn no achievements. Everything else about them plays and saves as normal.
Battery and heat
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Frame rate (fps) | Max: the screen's full rate, smoothed. Lower keeps the phone cooler and the battery longer |
| Smooth motion | On: 90 and 120 Hz screens draw at their full rate, smoothed. Off: a steady 60 fps |
| Battery saver | Draws at 30 fps |
| Detailed hero | The Vanguard drawn at your screen's own pixels |
Phone running hot? Set Frame rate to 60 or 30 and turn off Detailed hero. These change only how the game is drawn. Hit areas and attacks stay exactly the same.
